TONBRIDGE LEAD IS SIX AS RS FAIL TO FINISH

BRIGHTLINGSEA R 0 TONBRIDGE ANGELS 2

- By Tony Osborne

TONBRIDGE secured all three points with a goal in each half as the Kent table toppers overcame a Brightlingsea team still searching for their first home win.

The Rs started the brighter and their best early chance fell to Matt Baxter who was one-onone with Angels keeper Henly but was unable to convert..

Regent were to rue the missed opportunities as the visitors began to create chances of their own.

And on 32 minutes Alex Reid made the most of some indifferent defending to make it one nil to Tonbridge.

The second half began with a well organised Angels team asking more questions of a Regent defence that looked vulnerable when under pressure

And R's keeper James Bradbrook was forced into making some important saves to keep Brightlingsea in the game.

Baxter had one more great chance to get Regent back in the game when the ball fell to him in the visitors box but his shot was deemed by the officials not to have crossed the line.

And Angels substitute Jared Small made it two for Tonbridge on eighty nine minutes.

This increased the Angels’ league lead to six points, as their nearest rivals all dropped points.

STAR MAN: James Bradbrook (Birghtlingsea Regent) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
