Hanley show they are no Vase Duds

DUDLEY SPORTS 0 HANLEY TOWN 4

HANLEY ran out well deserved winners at High Ercal Avenue as their greater class proved just too much for Sports.

Sports, from the West Midlands Premier, were unbeaten at home this season but didn’t create enough chances to bother their higher level visitors.

Sam Woodhouse sent an early free-kick over for the home side but Hanley took the lead on 23 with a neat move when Josh Bristow came in behind the front line to receive a pass and easily score.

At 1-0 at half-time, Sports had a chance but didn’t do enough to trouble Hanley goalkeeper Joseph Mellor.

It always looked like Hanley were the more likely to score in the second half with a number of chances missed but it took until 76 minutes to increase their lead. Leigh Skellern crossed from the right to Thomas Ashton who controlled it and netted from close range.

A direct free-kick from sub Jonathan Sheldon found its way into the net on 82 minutes to make it three.

Tony Beya went close for Dudley near then end but, right on the whistle, Kieron Ball made it four. STAR MAN: Thomas Ashton (Hanley) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
