Referees are like anyone

-

WHAT arrogance from Steve Rudrum

(Fans’ Forum, September 9) to suggest those who complain about referees take up the job themselves. That’s about as ridiculous as suggesting anybody who complains about the Prime Minister should do the job themselves.

If referees get it wrong they are going to get criticism, just like players and managers do. As for abuse, the current laws of the game cover that but all too often referees fail to take action against players using foul and abusive language.

Yes, there is no game without referees, just like there isn’t without players, managers and the many volunteers. If Mr Rudrum can’t stand the heat perhaps he should get out of the kitchen? STEVE FORD, via email
