JACK’S THE LAD TO FILL ANGELS VOID

-

STEVE MCKIMM says the arrival of Maidenhead United loanee Jack Richards will help bolster his Tonbridge Angels side to see the table-toppers through a difficult spell with injury.

The 19-year-old forward had found first-team action hard to come by with the Magpies this season but joins an Angels side riding high at the top of the Bostik Premier division.

McKimm explained: “Jack’s arrival will help to give us options while some of our players recover from injury during a very busy period of fixtures, and I’m very pleased to have him here.

Tonbridge’s close promotion rivals Worthing have also brought in reinforcements this week after resigning Zack Newton on a one-month loan from Welling United.

The midfielder has already had two spells at Woodside Road with manager Adam Hinshelwood commenting “It’s great to have Zak back.” Sittingbourne, meanwhile, are set to lose goalkeeper Harry Brooks after he announced his intention to emigrate to Australia.

Brooks told the Bostik South East club’s website he believed the move would be “hugely beneficial” to his development as a footballer, and thanked Sittingbourne’s “amazing” fans for their support during his time at the club.

But he also admitted wouldn’t miss the “cold, wet Tuesday midweek fixtures in February”. East Grinstead Town manager Matt Longhurst has signed former Chipstead, Greenwich Borough, Merstham and Dorking Wanderers defender Dean Gunnar, while their Sussex rivals

Horsham have seen midfielder Daryl Coleman leave to sign for South Central Tooting & Mitcham United.
