Two for Theo as Ks turn on the style

- By Mark Murphy

KINGSTONIAN 4 FOLKESTONE INVICTA 1

KINGSTONIAN’S best display in ages overcame Folkestone and the loss of veteran keeper Rob Tolfrey.

Tolfrey received a nasty facial injury ten minutes after half-time, with Ks one- up.

And when Folkestone equalised past makeshift keeper Sean Francis, the momentum was with them. But Ks immediately retook the lead and ran out worthy winners.

In an even first half. Ks best chances fell to Louie Theophanus while Tolfrey saved well from Ian Draycott’s toe-poke on 15 minutes.

But Ks led on 39 minutes when Theophanus applied a close-range finish to Elliott Buchanan’s flick from Aaron Lamont’s corner.

Tolfrey picked up his injury as Alfie Paxman’s cross-shot sailed over his head and struck the post.

Invicta levelled on 63 minutes when Jack Evans headed a corner past Francis.

But Ks made it 2-1 on 65 minutes, Theophanus’s volley from David Fitzpatrick’s cross bouncing up and through Invicta keeper Tim Roberts.

Francis dealt inimitably with Invicta’s shots and crosses but escaped when Paxman’s deflected 70th-minute cross hit the post.

And Ks powered home with two late goals, Buchanan’s deft 86thminute finish to sub James Daly’s cross and Daly’s 90th-minute tapin from Buchanan’s cross.
