DEMIDH SAVES DYNAMO

- By Matthew Ford

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo and Pontefract

Collieries shared six goals in a pulsating 3-3 draw at Nanpantan Sports Ground.

In a match that produced two lead changes and five secondhalf goals, it was the hosts who struck first after 23 minutes when Karl Demidh finished beyond Ryan Musselwhite in the Collieries goal.

However, just two minutes had elapsed in the second half when Mikey Dunn levelled matters before an incredible spell of three goals in as many minutes.

First, Loughborough restored their lead on the hour but strikes from Pontefract duo Glyn Cotton and Eli Hey turned the complexion of the game around.

Dynamo rallied, though, and secured a share of the spoils when Demidh doubled up for the afternoon with his side’s third after 76 minutes.

Elsewhere, Gresley notched up a third consecutive victory with a 3-2 win at Pickering

Town, but they had to resist a spirited attempted comeback from the Pikes.

The visitors snatched the advantage right on the stroke of half-time when Kane Lee beat Charlie Andrew in the Pickering net.

Matters got significantly worse nine minutes into the second period for the home side when Martin Smyth fired home a penalty after the referee had contentiously awarded the spot-kick.

And the match as a contest appeared to be over on the hour when rampant Gresley added a third courtesy of Kieran O’Connell, but the Pikes stormed back in dramatic fashion.

Two goals in three minutes – the second from Josh Greening followed a 35-yard effort from Joe Danby – gave Town a glimmer of hope but Gresley held on. Meanwhile, Carlton

Town tasted defeat for the first time in four matches as Mitchell Dunne’s second-half strike for

Sheffield settled a scrappy contest and consigned them to a 1-0 defeat.

The hosts would have been keen to build on an encouraging sequence of results and performances that had seen them pick up five points from three previous unbeaten games, but they created precious little in a contest marred by difficult playing conditions.

Sheffield arrived in Nottinghamshire looking to respond from a heavy 60 reverse at Loughborough Dynamo in their last taste of league action and they got the desired result as Dunne’s goal proved decisive.

AFC Mansfield and Ossett United were forced to split the points in an end-to-end affair where a lack of clinical finishing proved to be the undoing of both sides at the Forest Town Arena.

Despite the Bulls dominating the opening proceedings, it was Karl Jones who fired the visitors into a 15th-minute lead against the run of play, muscling off Jordan Annable to fire the ball across the face of Jason White’s goal and into the bottom corner.

Kieran Wells levelled mid-way through the second-half when his header was judged to have crossed the goalline, before substitute Anton Daniels should have completed the turnaround but he skied the ball right in front of an open net. Tadcaster Albion’s trip to the Fens proved a fruitful one as they ran out 4-1 winners against

Wisbech Town to make it back-to-back wins in Division One East.

Billy Whitehouse opened the scoring for Taddy in the 22nd minute, but the lead only last eight minutes as Michael Frew equalised for the Fenmen after a goalkeeping error.

The visitors retook the lead through a breakaway goal from Casey Stewart on the stroke of half-time and then Aiden Savory struck in the 66th minute to make it 3-1.

Try as Wisbech might, there was no way through the Albion defence and when Savory scored the fourth in the 87th minute, the points were secured for the visitors.
