SAWYERS SCORES THREE IN OAKS WIN

- By Ian Knight

A HAT-trick from forward Frankie Sawyers saw

Sevenoaks Town stage a stunning second-half comeback to record a 2-4 win over Grays Athletic and progress to the next round.

Grays midfielder Joao Carlos’ double in the first 15 minutes had put the hosts in command at the break, however 10 minutes into the second half 29-year-old Sawyer cut the deficit.

Alec Fiddes restored parity, before two further goals from the former Met Police striker 16 minutes apart sealed the win for the visitors.

Bideford AFC succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to

Street in a thriller at the Sports Ground.

The hosts took the lead after just 19 seconds through Sean Downing, but three goals in 15 minutes from Harr Foster, Phil Ormrod and Ross McErlain saw the visitors reply emphatically.

The home side were handed a lifeline when Ian Sampson was fouled in the box. Billy Tucker tucked away the resulting penalty, but it proved only a consolation. Meanwhile, Whitstable Town swept Bedfont

Sports aside 4-1. Jordan Wright opened the scoring after 15 minutes, before Bradley Pearce’s own goal and Ricky Freeman’s double in the final five minutes of the half put the visitors out of sight.

A goal in each half from Luke Heneghan secured a 3-1 win for Kempston

Rovers at Dereham Town.

Dereham striker Daniel Beaumont cancelled out Heneghan’s 21st minute curling strike, but another from Kempston’s attacking midfielder and Benjamin Acquaye’s effort in the final 10 minutes confirmed the visitors’ progression. Sam Ashford ensured

Witham Town beat AFC Dunstable 1-0, while Tom Richardson’s double saw

Aveley win by the same margin in a 2-1 win over Basildon United. There were also 2-0 victories for Dunstable Town against Northwood and for Sittingbourne at Faversham Town.
