HENRY HITS A STUNNER TO RESCUE THE BUCKS

- By Richard Worton

AFC TELFORD 1 CHORLEY 1

A THRILLING injurytime equaliser from Henry Cowans kept the Bucks unbeaten home record intact and denied Chorley victory, although the Magpies remained top of the table and extended their unbeaten league record to 12 matches.

An open first 15 minutes saw Max Bramley save twice, from Elliot Newby and Adam Blakeman, but the chances then dried up.

On 25 minutes, Daniel Udoh looked to get behind the Magpies defence but was dragged down by Matt Challoner; the Magpie was perhaps fortunate to escape a dismissal, as the last man and denying Udoh a goalscoring opportunity.

The second half opened, with Chorley coming on strongly in their search for a goal. Elliot Newby blasted a golden chance to score against his former club over the bar from a Blakeman free-kick, and a goalless draw looked to be moving closer.

However, on 83 minutes Newby crossed from the left and another former Buck, Josh Wilson, rose highest to glance a header across Max Bramley and in.

It looked likely to be a sickening late blow for Gavin Cowan’s side, however deep into added time substitute Cowans drove an unstoppable right-footer in from 20 yards past Matt Urwin to reward a wholehearted home display.
