DEBUTANT ALLOTT ON FIRE FOR PILGRIMS

- By Rob Singleton

BOSTON UNITED 4 BLYTH SPARTANS 0

THREE goals in 15 second half minutes propelled Boston United to maximum points and fourth place in the table.

The Pilgrims, remarkably without a home goal since August 14, turned on the firepower to crush a below-par Blyth who are hovering just above the drop zone.

It was generally a tale of United being in control throughout with a succession of purposeful raids as Blyth lacked cohesion and repeatedly gave away possession.

The Boston bandwagon got rolling on 12 minutes when Brad Abbott head-flicked on for Gregg Smith to halfvolley accurately past keeper Peter Jameson.

Boston went close again through efforts by Jonathan Wafula and Nicky Walker while Ryan Qualter was denied by Ian Watson’s goalline clearance.

Spartans’ only chance of note came on 40 minutes when Sean Reid headed fractionally too high from a Robbie Dale chipped free-kick

The visitors were no match for the Pilgrims, Walker firing them 2-0 ahead on 64 minutes, his shot squirming through Jameson.

Further quick-fire goals on 78 and 79 minutes confirmed Blyth's demise as Walker crossed for impressive debutant Gavin Allott to slot in, before the same man smashed a ferocious drive into the top corner.
