HILL’S FIRST WIN IN THE LEAGUE AT LONG LAST

- By Sam Rattle

BURGESS HILL finally have a league win to celebrate, and they had a big Non-League Day crowd to celebrate with as they overcame Haringey Borough.

The win still leaves the Hillians bottom of the table but they are now only a point adrift.

The first opportunity fell to Haringey; Hillians keeper Josh James denying Karl Akinwande from close range.

James made another fine save ten minutes later before Akinwande blasted over.

But the hosts led on 31 minutes when Kieron Pamment cut in from the left and rifled his effort into the far corner.

Charman and Pamment missed chances to double the lead before the break.

And whatever was said in the Haringey dressing room at the break clearly worked, as Joel Nouble brought his side level within 60 seconds of the restart.

But anything they could do, the Hillians could do better, as Lukas Franzen-Jones’ sweetly struck effort found the bottom corner in the 49th minute to restore the Hillians’ lead.

With 15 minutes left, Burgess Hill’s Pat Harding fired a good chance over the crossbar, after brilliant work by Pamment.

But he made no mistake a minute into stoppage time, netting the winner past Boro keeper Valery Pajetet. STAR MAN: Kieron Pamment (Burgess Hill Town) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
