SPARKS FLY AS MICK’S U-TURN DENIED
MANAGER Mick Sullivan attempted to withdraw his resignation as South Park boss after an impromptu walk-out last weekend – only for the club to dismiss it and start plans for his successor.
The Bostik South Central club announced on Monday that Sullivan had tendered his resignation after Saturday’s 5-1 FA Trophy defeat at Berkhamsted.
Sullivan was contacted by the club the following day and told his resignation had been accepted with both parties contributing to the written announcement.
However, in a second statement released by the Sparks three days later, it was revealed that Sullivan had since contacted the directors to try and withdraw his resignation.
But following a row involving the re-hiring of several of Sullivan’s coaching staff, the club declined Sullivan’s offer and made future plans.
The second statement read: “On Monday evening, after receiving the club’s statement prior to it being released, Mick contacted the directors to try and withdraw his resignation. The Directors confirmed to Mick that his resignation had already been accepted and plans put in place for this week’s training and Saturday’s forthcoming fixture.
“Mick made it clear that if the club didn’t comply with his demands of us agreeing not to bring back several of the coaching staff that he had personally recruited, and subsequently sacked, then he would be left with no option other than to speak openly to the Press and offer the real reasons behind his decision to leave South Park.
“The club was not in a position to accept Mick’s demand as we placed no restrictions or had any involvement in who Mick recruited to his management team and the same would be the case for the new manager.”
