BURROW ON TARGET FOR MINSTERMEN
A FIRST-HALF goal from former Gateshead striker Jordan Burrow saw York edge an entertaining tie.
Burrow struck after 11 minutes with his sixth in six games and had another effort cleared off the line.
Sean Newton also saw his second-half penalty saved by keeper Peter Jameson, but it was far from all York. Blyth piled on the pressure in the second period but couldn’t find a way past former keeper Adam Bartlett.
Much-travelled front man Burrow converted former Blyth loanee Macaulay Langstaff ’s nearpost cross for the winner.
Bartlett then saved Connor Oliver’s curler and Sean Reid’s loping header was comfortably dealt with by Bartlett. Langstaff was wide of the far post from Josh Law’s through ball with Blyth continuously probing for an equaliser.
Bartlett tipped over from Michael Liddle straight after the break with Dan Maguire having a shot blocked on the line.
Alex Nicholson denied Burrow a second with a clearance, before Oliver brought down Russell Penn in the box. Jameson saved Newton’s spot kick and had to be quick off his line to deny Alex Harris getting to a through ball.
York’s Joe Tait then did well to stop Robbie Dale earning a hosts a replay.
