Whites make hay as Boro get in a muddle

- By Andrew McNeil

AN ASCENDANT Salisbury arrived full of hopes and expectation of piling more misery on a lacklustre Farnborough, only to find their hosts full of vim and vigour.

However, despite their opponents proving a tough nut to crack, the Whites eventually did run out comfortable winners.

It was all going well for the hosts until Farnborough collectively put on their clown shoes for an ineptly worked free-kick routine that pearolled tamely out of play.

Their heads noticeably dropped at this red-nosed debacle, allowing Salisbury back into the game. with them hitting the post almost immediately.

Mere minutes later, with the assistance of bar and post, Salisbury nosed in front through Luke Hopper.

The dead ball comedy was then repeated when Boro had a penalty saved and then their profligacy was further punished with a stoppage-time header from George Coston.

The second half saw little of note beyond the posts being given another good rattling by Farnborough but then, an unsightly stramash resulted in both Farnbrough’s Nathaniel Oseni and Salisbury’s Elliot Wheeler seeing red.

In stoppage time, Zack Kotwica rounded things off.
