LEADERS ARE HIT FOR FIVE

- By Roger Worsley

BEDFORD saw off Bromsgrove Sporting, ending the table-toppers’ unbeaten run with an emphatic 5-1 victory at the Eyrie.

The first half belonged to the visitors as Niall Cooper in the Bedford goal made two good stops whilst the woodwork kept out a point-blank header from Sporting’s Jason Cowley.

Against the run of play, Bedford took the lead when Paul Benson latched onto a cross from the left to direct the ball in from a yard out.

They went in at the break 20 up when Dean Dummett let rip to score from inside the area and Jermaine Osei bagged Bedford’s third.

Substitute Nathan Frater beat Crane to make it 4-0, Cowley’s curler pulled a goal back but Osei replicated his first goal round things off.
