ROVERS BANK ON BOWERS
MARCUS BOWERS proved the thorn in Witham’s side as Rovers prevailed.
The home side opened the scoring on five minutes through Billy Johnson following Bowers’ acrobatic kick.
Witham nearly levelled through a Liam Whipps free kick, falling to Danny Norton whose shot went just wide.
But Wakering scored their second on 38 minutes when Bowers’ shot across the Witham goal found the net.
Jake Gordon fired over for the hosts but Sam Ashford almost got his side back into but his second-half shot hit the bar, but Witham did get a consolation when he was brought down in the box.
Ashford duly stepped up and tucked the spot-kick away but Witham couldn’t get the leveller in added time.
