INJURIES PREVENT A HERNE CHARGE

- By John Bathurst

CRAY Wanderers ran out with all three points despite Herne’s fightback.

Cray started the match at pace and could have been three up inside the first five minutes, but the first half ended goalless.

Ben Mundele broke the deadlock two minutes into the half, striking a sweet volley into the top corner.

Bay fought back with Matt Fry forcing Cray into a save, though both he and fellow defender Ben Gorham went off injured.

It looked all over when substitute Danny Rumbol pulled down Freddie Parker in the box and Tom Phipp stroked wide of keeper Jordan Beeney.

But Bay kept pushing forward and were rewarded with a penalty of their own: Jake Embery netting a late consolation.
