DOCKERS HAUL IN SEASIDERS

- By Tom Harle

COMEBACK king Lewis Smith snatched a late leveller for Tilbury, who hauled themselves back twice to share a thrilling 2-2 draw with Felixstowe & Walton.

Former Fulham ace Smith, a summer signing from National League South side East Thurrock, struck in the dying moments to extend the Dockers' unbeaten run to four games.

The visitors took the lead on 29 minutes at Chadfields when Rhys Henry crossed for Jack Ainsley to slot into an empty net.

Before the break Tilbury struck the post, while Kris Newby was denied by a fine Jack Spurling save.

Tilbury got back in the game just past the hour when Hussain Jaffa was dragged to the floor in the box and Smith slotted home.

Joe Keith's side finished strongly, but were undone in the final minute when they failed to clear lines and gave substitute Joseph Francis the chance to head home at the back post.

Deep into injury time, Tilbury grabbed their share of the spoils when the ball fell to Smith on the edge of the area and he struck home with the help of a deflection to snatch the point.

Late drama was also the order of the day as AFC

Sudbury used their 'get out of jail free' card in a 11 draw with Barking at the Wardale Williams Stadium.

Barking were on the front foot throughout and would have been ahead at the break had Joshua Davison made better contact with an Emmanuel Ighorae cross from the right after a strong run.

It took them just 50 seconds after the half-time interval to take the lead, Ighorae allowed too much space to break into the box and his effort broke to Daniel Cheema who shot crisply into the bottom corner.

That looked to be the decisive moment but the third minute of stoppage time saw the tables turn.

Ryan Cosson bundled into the back of Phil Kelly and just as Sudbury thought they'd lost their lifeline, the referee awarded the obvious penalty from which Harrison nicked a point for the home side.

Meanwhile Daniel Beaumont's first-half strike was enough to hand

Dereham a narrow 1-0 victory over Romford at Aldiss Park.

Romford began in the ascendancy as Ernest Okoh cut in from the right and saw his left-footed drive saved low by Elliot Pride, but they would soon trail.

The opening and only goal came on 21 minutes, Adam Hipperson nicking possession on the lefthand side and feeding Beaumont who finished confidently from inside the box.

The Magpies went in search of a second, Beaumont again receiving the ball from Hipperson and finding Joe Gatting at the far post only for the midfielder to see his effort blocked.

Romford came remarkably close to an equaliser with four minutes to play, Jamie Marsh's effort scrambled off the line.

It was a much-needed result for the Boro, who arrested a run of four successive defeats and will seek to avoid a repeat of last season's relegation scrap. Elsewhere, Grays

Athletic were made to work for their 2-1 win over lowly Soham Town Rangers at Julius Martin Lane.

The first half was a sluggish affair and playoff chasing Grays struggled to create chances early on.

Dennis Oli, who played 150 times for Gillingham between 2008 and 2012, broke the deadlock with a cool close-range finish on 51 minutes.

But the lead would last for just two minutes as Rangers equalised through Ryan Auger.

The winning goal was a popular one as fans favourite Joao Carlos, who brought up his 300th game for Grays last season, converted a penalty in the 71st minute to hand his side the win and a crucial three points.
