WALKER OWN GOAL FORCES CUP REPLAY

- By Allan Mitchell

A DRAW was the fair result as both sides cancelled each other out in a game of few chances.

Hemel had the better of the opportunities in the first period but failed to find the target, the closest they came was when Jordan Parkes free kick hit the inside of the post, before hitting City keeper Craig King on the back, just missing the goal and going behind.

Oxford enjoyed a lot of possession but created little to worry Tudor’s keeper Laurie Walker and the sides went in level at the break.

Hemel took the lead on 52 minutes after some good build up play involving Parkes and Billy Clifford, the ball was rolled across the box to Phil Roberts who unleashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net with King at full stretch.

Oxford kept pressing for an equaliser and it came after 72 minutes a poor clearance by Darren Ward was swept into the path of Craig Fagenmade who raced into the box before shooting from a tight angle, the ball seemed to have been dealt with by Walker but it slipped from his grasp and bobbled over the line to level the scores.

That was pretty much it for scoring opportunities and the two sides fight it out again on Tuesday evening.
