HOPSON IS THE STAR FOR TOWN IN ROMP

- By Andrew Snaith

WHITBY enjoyed their biggest win of the season as Mickleover we're put to the sword in style.

The home side were outstanding throughout and fully deserved their win as they dominated from start to finish with an impressive display when it mattered most under pressure.

The Blues broke the deadlock on eight minutes when Junior Mondal was upended by Jimmy Phillips and Dale Hopson found the bottom right corner from the resulting penalty.

It was an even end to the first period but the hosts really impressed after the interval..

Hopson was calmness personified as he doubled his and Whitby's tally midway through the second period, tucking into that same corner after a solo run.

At the other end, Nathan Jarman’s deflected bicycle kick struck Adam McHugh's left hand post with the keeper flatfooted.

Mondal then rattled the woodwork himself after a terrific move but talked himself into a second yellow card.

However Whitby's ten men stayed on top.

Hopson set up Dan McWilliams for 3-0 on the break with two substitutes combining for Whitby's fourth right at the end. Jassem Sukar on hand to tap home after Can Wilson's shot was blocked.
