LEVI LEVELS AS NEW ERA BEGINS FOR GENERALS
CHESHAM’s new management team of James Duncan and Michael Murray can take heart from a spirited showing from their new charges but high-flying Tiverton fought back in the second half to claim a draw.
Chesham were the better side in the first half and Tiverton keeper Liam Armstrong fumbled a Ryan Blake shot early on at the expense of a corner.
Adam Martin and Dave Pearce both had shots blocked in a scramble in the visitors’ area, then a Matt Bevans free-kick was headed off the line.
Chesham took the lead on 36 minutes when Jefferson Louis headed in Pearce’s corner.
Tiverton’s best chance of the half came shortly afterwards but Levi Landricombe shot high and wide.
The visitors made a double substitution at half-time and improved in the second half.
However, their equaliser on the hour came from a soft penalty decision, for a push on Joel Randall as he contested a cross, and Landricombe converted.
Tivvy had more of the ball late on but goalscoring opportunities were rare.
The best chance came when Chesham’s debutant goalkeeper Ben Goode dropped a cross but Tom Bath’s shot was cleared off the line by Kieran Murphy.
