IT’S MILLER TIME AS THE ROBINS BASH BORO

- By Colin Carpenter

A MUCH-NEEDED clean sheet led to a relatively comfortable win for Frome over Gosport Borough thanks to goals from Kane Simpson and Kris Scott.

In an even first half where both sides had periods of dominance, the half-time scoreline had 0-0 written all over it until Kris Miller overlapped in the 40th minute, and after taking on his marker, he made it to the deadball line and hit a low cross across the face of goal for Simpson to score with ease from close range.

Miller was also involved in Frome’s second goal in the 52nd as he won a free-kick on the right, which led to Sam Teale being wrestled to the ground by Harry Medway right in front of the referee.

Scott made no mistake from the spot.

Despite Gosport throwing everyone up for the last quarter of the match, Frome never really looked troubled defending their lead to the final whistle and looked far more comfortable than in recent game.

Victory moves the Robins up to 16th in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division South table, now a point ahead of south west rivals Swindon Supermarine.

Meanwhile, Borough dropped to 12th, four points off the play-off positions after this away setback.
