Jahvan genius fails to spark it

- By Terry Lynes

LOOKING to end a run of four consecutive league defeats, Lowestoft included loan signing James Blanchfield to bolster their injury-hit squad.

The first half was a nondescript affair generally bossed by Barwell, but with little to test Trawlerboys keeper Elvijs Putnins.

A tame header by Massiah McDonald and an effort from Jahvan DavidsonMiller, saved at full stretch by Putnins was all the Canaries had to show for it.

It was much the same in the second half, with Putnins forced to race outside his area to head clear from Davidson-Miller.

The Barwell man was easily the best player on show and went close to giving his side the lead when he curled the ball beyond Putnins but against the post.

It was not until the last quarter that Lowestoft started to threaten, with Danny Pinheiro reaching the byline and pinging the ball across, but nobody was able to get a touch.

Late on, visiting keeper Liam Castle flew across his goal to tip a Keiran Higgs thunderbolt over the top.

He then did likewise with a Conor Mckendry free-kick two minutes from time.
