STEELMEN STRIKE TO GIVE DUN THE BLUES
DUNSTABLE TOWN 3 CORBY TOWN 3
ALATE second-half comeback from Corby Town meant they shared the spoils with Dunstable Town at Creasey Park in a thrilling game between top and bottom. An upset was on the cards as Dunstable led 3-1 with 20 minutes remaining but Corby refused to give the game up and clawed two goals backthrough Jordan Crawford and Greg Ling to ensure their unbeaten start to the season continued. Corby opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Elliot Sandy but a double either side of the break from Dunstable captain Arel Amu gave the hosts a surprise lead. A third goal from Chris Wreh looked destined to give his side their third league victory of the season against a Corby side who are challenging for the play-off places. The Steelmen appeared to be struggling for a way back into the game but goals from Crawford and Ling inside a tenminute spell brought the teams level, and with ten minutes remaining, neither side could claim a winner. The draw benefits neither side and although it maintains Corby’s unbeaten league start to the 2018-19 season, it does them no favours in the Southern League Division One Central table as rivals around them, including Bedford Town, who claimed the scalp of tabletoppers Bromsgrove Sporting, won. On Wednesday night, Corby pit their wits against Bromsgrove. Likewise, Dunstable will be left frustrated, having lost a golden opportunity to earn a third league victory and move away from the relegation places and the likes of Aylesbury, North Leigh and Kidlington.
