Borough hammered at home

- By Paul Wilkes

NUNEATON BOROUGH 0 BRADFORD PARK AVENUE 6

A TOUGH week for Nuneaton off the pitch ended in dire circumstances on it for a struggling Borough team yesterday.

With their very future being discussed, Nuneaton were unable to bring a rare smile to their fans’ faces in what has been a tough season to say the least.

Things started badly for the Boro as they were 1-0 down inside 23 minutes when Connor Branson slid one past Cameron Belford.

Nicky Wroe produced a David Beckham moment of magic, seeing Belford off his line and finishing with style with a wonderful effort from just inside his own half.

Jamie Spencer made it 3-0 with a strike of his own before the break.

If things were bad before half-time they soon got even worse after as just after the hour mark, as with all three substitutions made, Boro keeper Cameron Belford was sent off for bringing down Jake Beesley.

Beesley dusted himself off to take the penalty, which he converted with ease, as stand-in defender-cumkeeper Mike Calveley was unable to get a hand to it.

Further goals from substitute Alex Hurst and Beesley again rubbed salt into what is a sizeable wound at the Boro – but hopefully they will be back to fight again another day.
