FOURTEENTH TIME LUCKY FOR ALLEN
CHESTERFIELD ended a winless run of 13 games with an impressive victory at Mill Farm.
Fylde took an early lead after 12 minutes when Danny Rowe fired into the bottom-left corner from 15 yards.
Chesterfield responded after 25 minutes. Will Evans drilled a free-kick into the bottom-right corner leaving Lynch no chance.
Fylde should have gone back in front straight after as Rowe found Joe Cardle unmarked down the right wing and he squared for Hardy six yards out, but somehow the Chesterfield defence blocked the ball on the line.
Eight minutes later the Spireites were in front. A foul on Tom Denton after a corner gave the referee little option and Denton made no mistake sending Lynch the wrong way from 12 yards.
Denton got his second and Chesterfield’s third with 20 minutes to go, heading home from six yard unmarked from a corner.
Ashley Hemmings almost got the Coasters back in the game when his thunderous effort came back off the crossbar, but that was the last of the chances as Martin Allen’s side ensured progress to the next round.
