Thrilling first half has Tivvy smiling

- By Jay Richardson

TIVERTON secured an excellent win after twice coming from behind to beat a rejuvenated Staines team, who were managed by Robert Easom.

For the second game in a row a long ball over the top caused damage as debutant Wilson Chingoka lobbed Liam Armstrong to give Staines the lead.

This was then cancelled out by a exquisite shot from the edge of the box by Levi Landricombe to beat Louis Dixon in the Staines goal low down to his left.

Staines however claimed their second goal of the game when Armstrong pulled off a great save high to his left but the ball ricocheted off Nick Hurst and fell to Chingoka to bundle home his second.

Staines then had to replace their keeper Dixon with sub Max Harris.

Tom Bath made Staines pay when he bundled in the equaliser on 25 minutes and then, just before half-time, a Nick Hurst corner was fumbled by Max Harris behind the line to give Tivvy a 3-2 lead they would never relinquish.

The second half saw Tivvy pile on the pressure with numerous chances but Harris pulled off three great saves and the Tivvy goal was not troubled further.

In the end, it was a deserved three points but credit to Staines for an entertaining game. STAR MAN: Mike Landricombe (Tiverton) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
