Rakim rides to the rescue of Towners

- By Ken Brazier

A LIVELY, and occasionally feisty, north London derby ended all square at a very blustery Queen Elizabeth II Stadium, and that was about the right outcome, with Town doing well to play out the last half an hour with ten men.

Haringey were first out of the blocks. Winning a corner on their right, the ball was floated over and Rakim Richards, completely unmarked, was able to head past Joe Wright in the home goal.

Borough’s joy was short-lived, however, when a great move down the left saw Sam Youngs find Aaron Greene, who showed good awareness to look up and pull the ball back for Billy Bricknell to level.

Borough were looking dangerous coming forward in an end-to-end first half but it remained level until just before the break when Bricknell chested the ball to Youngs, whose shot appeared to lack sufficient power but squeezed over the line.

Borough flew out of the traps early in the second period and, following efforts from Lionel Stone and Chinedu McKenzie, Richards bagged his second when he drilled in a loose ball to tie the scores.

There appeared to be a turning point in the game when Town centre-back Dan Rumens was rightly shown a red card but despite chances for both sides it finished all square in the end. STAR MAN: Sam Youngs (Enfield) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
