STEP 5 ROUND-UPS NORTH WEST COUNTIES

CITY OF LIVERPOOL stormed to their third straight league win with a 3-0 defeat of Abbey Hey to stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Craig Cairns fired them into an interval lead and second half goals from Jamie MacDonald and Luke Denson sealed the win.

Bootle were also 3-0 winners, at Hanley Town.

Ryan Cox opened the scoring ten minutes before half-time with Steven Jones doubling the lead just a minute after the break.

Carl Peers wrapped things up just short of the hour.

Litherland RENYCA came from behind to win 2-1 at Whitchurch Albion, Ashton Clements and Jack Riley on target for the visitors.

Two goals from Zack Dale handed Barnoldswi­ck Town a 2-1 win against West Didsbury & Chorlton.

But goalkeeper Ryan Livesey had to pull off a last-gasp save to keep the lead intact after Ben Woods had pulled a goal back midway through the second half.

Burscough snatched a last-minute equaliser at home to Charnock Richard.

NORTHERN COUNTIES EAST

BRAD WALKER proved to be Knaresboro­ugh Town’s hat-trick hero in a thrilling 3-2 win over Albion Sports which kept the pressure on their title rivals.

He opened the scoring on two minutes and was denied by the crossbar before the break.

Lamin Janneh and Alhassane Keita’s penalty put the visitors ahead midway through the second half only for Walker to score twice in seven minutes to secure the win.

They remain level on points with Penistone Church who thumped Handsworth Parramore 4-0, with Sam Scrivens netting twice

Yorkshire Amateur remain three points clear at the top thanks to their 4-0 victory over Bottesford Town, Ashley Flynn with a brace.

Maltby Main cruised to a 4-0 win at bottom club Harrogate RA and Bridlingto­n Town also had a good win on the road, 3-1 at Garforth Town.

The day’s biggest crowd, 352, watched Worksop Town beat visitors Goole 2-0 while Athersley Rec beat Liversedge by the same scoreline.

Eccleshill United came from behind to win 2-1 at Hall Road Rangers,

MIDLAND LEAGUE

LONG EATON UNITED inflicted a stunning 4-2 win at high-flying, ten-man AFC Wulfs to climb out of the relegation zone.

The Blues chalked up a second successive win in superb fashion inspired by a brace from Ruben WigginsTho­mas.

Wulfs led on five minutes when Chris Sterling squared for Kyle Brady to fire home. Wiggins-Thomas cancelled out the opener on 12 minutes but the hosts were quickly ahead again with a second from Brady.

And Ross Parker headed in a rightwing cross on 39 minutes before Mason Rowley climbed highest to meet a 43rd minute free-kick.

Wulfs were reduced to ten shortly after the restart and United made them pay when Wiggins-Thomas brilliantl­y volleyed in a Charlie Scanlon cross.

It’s now three league games without a win for Wulfs who remain in seventh spot.

Coventry Sphinx left it very late to chalk up a third successive win as they sneaked past South Normanton Athletic.

Charlie Faulker hammered in from close range in the 90th-minute following a Callum Woodward free-kick.

The striker’s goal spared the blushes of Mike Quirke who smashed a 72ndminute penalty against the crossbar after Ryan Harkin was fouled.

EASTERN COUNTIES LEAGUE

WROXHAM are up to second after an impressive 4-1 victory at Long Melford.

Sonny Carey netted twice for the visitors with Nathan Stewart and Jordan Bond also on target.

The result means Wroxham are now just three points behind leaders Histon, who weren't involved in league action at the weekend.

Hadleigh United are now just one point away from climbing out of the drop zone after running out 2-1 winners at Norwich United.

Kyle Ferguson and Brett Crisp were the visitors’ scorers.

Struggling Framlingha­m Town a heavy 4-1 setback at Gorleston.

Connor Ingram hit a hat-trick, with Danny Camish adding the other, as they moved up one place to eighth.

Valter Rocha was the star man for Thetford Town as he scored all five of their goals in a crushing 5-0 home victory against Whitton United.

Matt Hayden bagged a brace for Newmarket Town as they secured a 4-2 success at Haverhill Rovers.

Ely City twice took the lead during their home game with Brantham Athletic.

But they were forced to settle for a point after Joe Yaxley's dramatic 87thminute leveller salvaged a 2-2 draw for the visitors RORY HAYWARD suffered

UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE

DAVENTRY TOWN maintained their five-point lead with a 4-1 home win over Northampto­n ON Chenecks.

Jordan Orosz gave the home side the lead in the fifth minute which was cancelled out by Jake Naoy.

Adam Creaney restored the hosts’ lead from the penalty spot in the 77th minute, his ninth conversion of the season, and then Taylor Orosz sealed victory with two goals in the 86th and 90th minutes.

Second-placed Pinchbeck United, who have a game in hand over the leaders, kept up the momentum with a 3-0 home win over Eynesbury Rovers, who had four players sent off.

Dan Draper and Matt Clifford were shown reds for bad tackles, Curtis Hartley followed after being shown a second yellow while a player on the bench was also dismissed, apparently for dissent.

Ollie Maltby, Lee Beeson and Tony Edwards were on target for the topflight newboys.

Two goals each from Danico Johnson and substitute Harry Holloway helped Rugby Town to a 4-1 win at Kirkby Muxloe, keeping them just one point behind Pinchbeck and also with a game in hand over Daventry.

SOUTHERN COMBINATIO­N

HORSHAM YMCA closed the gap on leaders Chichester City to just one point after a 2-0 win at struggling Langney Wanderers.

Tony Garrod and Jack Hartley were both on target for the second-placed side, who took full advantage of Chichester being in FA Vase action.

The defeat for Langney drops them into the bottom three.

Arundel climbed out of the drop zone after a 1-1 draw at Broadbridg­e Heath. James Thurgar gave Arundel the lead shortly before half-time but Martin Flack's equaliser on the hour mark rescued a point for the hosts.

Lingfield moved up to sixth in the table after an impressive 3-1 victory at Lancing.

Naseem James grabbed a brace for the visitors with Jake Horn also on the score sheet.

Loxwood remain second from bottom after suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat at East Preston.

Asa Nicholson netted twice for the home side with Luke Brodie and Jake Heryet adding the others.

The result means that Loxwood have now lost 11 of their opening 13 games this season.

The day's other game, between Crawley Down Gatwick and Little Common, finished in a 3-3 draw after Crawley salvaged a point with a late comeback. RORY HAYWARD

SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS

BIGGLESWAD­E FC and Tring Athletic were in successful Vase action, allowing the chasing pack to make up some much-needed ground.

Hadley remain third after Emmanuel Hammond’s brace helped them to a 50 win at home to London Tigers.

Arlesey Town are fourth on goal difference after they won 4-0 at home to London Colney with James Hatch scoring twice and Ricky Lawrence also among the scorers.

Performanc­e of the day came from Harpenden Town who beat fifthplace­d Potton United 7-0 to move out of the bottom three.

Jake Davis and Max Ashton both scored on their Harpenden debuts but the star was Archie McClelland who grabbed a hat-trick and set up another.

Wembley are out of the bottom two after they won for only the second time this season, beating Cockfoster­s 3-1 at home.

However, Stotfold remain bottom of the pile despite goals from Lanre Balogun and Craig Packham in a 3-2 defeat at Crawley Green for whom Danny Watson was among the goals.

Skipper Ieuan Lewis scored twice for Biggleswad­e United as they beat North Greenford United 3-0.

WESTERN LEAGUE

BRIDGWATER TOWN secured their tenth league win of the season, and went top, when leading scorer Jack Taylor struck the only goal, five minutes from time, at Brislingto­n.

Harry Horton’s 84th minute corner fell to Taylor, who fired home from close range.

Shepton Mallet extended their winning run in all competitio­ns to four thanks to a 4-0 triumph at home to Chipping Sodbury Town, with goals from Conrad Peck, Joe Morgan, James Billing and Tyson Pollard.

Clevedon Town fell to a 2-1 defeat at Wellington despite playing against ten men for almost 45 minutes.

Jack Bryant fired the home side ahead on five minutes, before they had Josh Wadham dismissed early stages

in the second half. However, Connor Pengelly doubled the advantage for the ten men, before Lucas Vowles struck a late consolatio­n for the visitors.

Odd Down are enjoying life on their travels, with a 4-1 victory at bottom side Shortwood United secured by goals from Josh Williams, twice, Brandon Benjamin and Ollie Webb.

Bridport’s upturn in form continued, with a 3-2 win at Hallen helping them leapfrog their opponents, while Roman Glass St George had their fixture with Plymouth Parkway abandoned in the second half following floodlight failure.

WESSEX LEAGUE

BASHLEY produced the result of the day in the Premier Division as they finished comprehens­ive 7-1 home winners against Cowes Sports.

Nathan Clements put the Bash ahead on 32 minutes. A minute after half-time, Jack Smith netted a lobbed effort.

Dan Munday then came off the bench on 55 minutes and scored a hattrick for the hosts.

Harrison White also scored for the Bash amongst Munday's hat-trick. Brogen Sims scored his first senior goal in stoppage time to complete the scoring for the hosts.

Team Solent impressive­ly won 2-1 at Christchur­ch.

Ben Baldwin put the Students ahead on 12 minutes. Christchur­ch to equalise 60 seconds later through Josh Kirkham. And Ethan Taylor netted the winner on 23 minutes.

Shaftesbur­y beat ten-man Fareham Town 5-2. Nick Hewlett headed the hosts ahead only for the Creeksider­s to take a 2-1 lead before Greg Peel made it 2-2 with a free-kick.

Town were reduced to ten men before Peel, Hewlett and Staffie completed the scoring..

In Division One, Folland Sports ran out 5-0 winners at home to East Cowes Vics, with a hat-trick from Jamie Mansell and goals from Sanchez Mason and Ashley Simmonds.

MATT RICHBELL

ESSEX SENIOR LEAGUE

SAFFRON WALDEN TOWN missed the chance to go a point behind leaders Stansted, when they were held 2-2 by bottom club Barkingsid­e, who stay five points adrift.

Lewis Francis gave Town the lead on two minutes, but goals from Michael Clark either side of half-time put Side in front before Ashley Skeggs rescued a point, six minutes from time.

Sporting Bengal United continued their climb up the table with a 4-1 win at Ilford. Jay Knight opened the scoring before a spectacula­r own goal levelled matters before half time.

After the break Jason Ngandu bagged a brace and Bobby Redwood also netted.

It was also 4-1 at Hoddesdon Town where St Margaretsb­ury came away with the points.

Chris Cordara-Soanes opened the scoring and Frazer John doubled the advantage. Kane Lowe reduced the arrears, but Connor Scully made it 3-1 and John added a fourth near the end.

Takeley saw off Tower Hamlets with goals from Andrew Boehen, Jason Todd and Kevin Riley. Darnell Coker and Luke With replied for Tower.

Leyton Athletic remain one off the bottom after losing 2-1 at home to Stanway Rovers. Dwayde James scored for Leyton, but they were undone by a double by Marley Okosi.

SOUTHERN COUNTIES EAST

BECKENHAM TOWN and Fisher edged clearer in first and second place respective­ly in the Premier Division.

Both won yesterday to take full advantage of the fact that the majority of the league was in FA Vase action.

Leaders Beckenham sealed victory at second-bottom Rusthall with two goals in the space of three early firsthalf minutes.

Skipper Callum McGeehan put the Becks ahead in the 12th minute and number nine Richard Atkins doubled their advantage just two minutes later.

Rusthall probably feared the worst at this stage. But that proved to be the limit to Beckenham’s scoring.

Second-placed Fisher left it relatively late to overcome struggling Hollands and Blair at St Paul’s Sports Ground, Mathieu Ramsamy eventually breaking the deadlock in the 74th minute.

Elsewhere, Glebe were convincing 3-0 winners at K Sports.

Laurent Hamici gave the Kent outfit the best possible start, opening the scoring on two minutes.

Danny Phillips made it 2-0 in the 24th minute and Abdi Mohammed completed the scoring with 14 minutes remaining.

Deal Town missed the opportunit­y to reach the top four when they were held to a goalless draw at Punjab United. MARK MURPHY

COMBINED COUNTIES

KNAPHILL returned from Camberley Town with a 2-0 victory, despite being without a manager, thanks to goals from Harry Rapley and Nathan Thomas.

In a statement issued in midweek, the club confirmed that it has parted company with Liam Parrington, who had been in charge only since the end of May. A replacemen­t is yet to be appointed.

Two Bobby Webbe free-kicks and Eli Ogunseye’s goal earned Guildford City a 3-1 win at AFC Hayes.

In an otherwise dull encounter, Daniel Campion scored the only goal on 16 minutes to give Colliers Wood United a 1-0 home win over Balham.

Mo Kamara returned to the Walton & Hersham side to score the only goal of the game in their victory at Hanworth Villa.

A first-half goal from Gary Abisogun earned Cobham a 1-0 victory at Raynes Park Vale.

Tuesday evening's fixture between Hanworth Villa and Guildford City had to be postponed on the night, following a floodlight failure before the match.

The incident will be reviewed by the league management committee but it is inevitable that the game will be rearranged for another date.

Hanworth Villa have repaired the fault and the lights are now back in action. ROBIN JONES

HELLENIC LEAGUE

BRACKLEY TOWN SAINTS suffered their third defeat of the season, 3-2 at Fairford Town.

A goal in each half from John Thomas secured the victory. Ryan Knight replied with a late penalty for the league leaders.

Flackwell Heath beat Reading City 4-1 with goals from Sodike Thompson, Leius Sinclair, Joshua Dillon and Nicholas Grosvenor.

Ardley United won 4-0 at Longlevens. Troy Bryan scored two, Tobias London and Billy Gillett one.

Lewis Thompson, Pete Macklin and an own goal gave Lydney Town a 3-1 win over Holmer Green.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town beat Abingdon United 3-2 thanks to two goals from Matthew Bennett and one from TJ Bohane. Third-placed Ascot United were reduced to ten men but forced a 2-2 draw at Tuffley Rovers, thanks to a 74th-minute goal from Nathan Minhas.

Louis Bowers gave the visitors the lead before Kieran Alder and Dominik Kent netted.

James Singh scraped a late 3-3 draw for second-placed Brimscombe & Thrupp against Binfield, for whom Jemel Johnson hit two goals and Sea Moore one, with Sam Blackie and Tom Pass responding.

STEP 6 ROUND-UPS WEST MIDLANDS REGIONAL

TIVIDALE opened up a commanding 13-point lead following a 3-1 win over Wellington.

Sub striker Elliot Hartley made an immediate impact, scoring twice following his arrival on ten minutes. Stuart Davies pulled one back for Wellington.

Bradley Welding wrapped up the points on 76 minutes, scoring direct from a free-kick.

Tivi’s title charge got a huge boost when second-placed Black Country Rangers lost 3-2 to Wednesfiel­d, Ashley Bellingham scored twice. Remie Birch added a third.

Jim Astley grabbed an 88th-minute winner as Wem beat Dudley Sports 21. Shifnal Town left it late to snatch a 2-2 draw at Bewdley Town, with an 87th minute strike from Adrian Jones.

Pegasus Juniors drew 1-1 at Cradley Town thanks to a long-range equaliser from Ollie Purdy after Dan Danks fired the hosts in front.

EAST MIDLANDS LEAGUE

CARL MOORE claimed a hat-trick as league leaders Selston beat bottom club Arnold Town 6-2. Jamie Renshaw, Ben Moore and Kenan Layton also scored.

Ten-man Ashby Ivanhoe beat Heanor 2-1. George Wesley and Joel Earps scored. Sam Birks levelled for Heanor. Gareth Curtis hit a brace in Sherwood’s 3-2 win at Barrow with Jobe Shaw also netting.

Connor Moore also scored twice in Radford’s 3-1 win against Gedling. Eugene Francis also scored.

Aaron Williamson hit two for Teversal, including a late penalty, in a draw at Rainworth. Jono Drake and Blessing Adeleye scored for the hosts.

Newark Flowserve stay second after beating Kimberley Miners 3-1. Eliot King, Rhys Lewis and Danny Meadows.

SOUTH-WEST PENINSULA

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE went 13 points clear at the top of the Premier Division thanks to Friday night’s 3-0 win at Camelford, although second-placed Tavistock have nine games in hand on the Devon outfit.

At the opposite end of the table, bottom club Slicker drew 1-1 at fifthbotto­m Callington Town, to earn their fourth point of the season.

Vase action restricted yesterday’s league action to just two further games.

Helston Athletic had arguably the best result of the weekend, picking up their third league win of the season, their first away win of the season and their first league win at all since August. They did it in some style, too, 4-0 at Launceston.

The goals flew in at Torpoint Athletic, who beat Newquay 6-2, having led 5-2 after 41 minutes. Luke Cloke hit a hat-trick. MARK MURPHY
