TIME TO FINISH JOB I STARTED, INSISTS FLYNN

-

WREXHAM legend Brian Flynn has returned to the club to settle “unfinished business”.

The National League’s longest-serving side have impressed under new boss Bryan Hughes, who has added further experience by hiring Flynn as his assistant.

Flynn is no stranger to Reds fans having managed the club for 12 years at the end of a 21-year playing career which saw him make over 100 appearances for the Dragons.

While in charge he stacked up a long list of honours including the FA Cup giantkilling over Arsenal, taking the club to the quarterfinals of the competition in 1997, winning the Welsh Cup, the FAW Premier Cup three times, leading them into the European Cup Winners Cup and winning promotion to League One in 1993.

Flynn told the club’s website: “I am delighted to return and support Bryan at a club that is very special to me. I am coming in at an exciting time and my immediate focus will be looking to help Bryan and the club build momentum over the last couple of months of the season.

“I feel like I’ve some unfinished business at the club and would love nothing better than to help the club back to the Football League.”

Hughes added: “Getting in the right management support at this time of the season was a critical early decision for me and Brian was always my number one choice.”

Flynn has also managed at Swansea City, where he has been working most recently as a scout, the Wales Under 21’s and, briefly, the Welsh national team.

He replaced Dean Saunders at Doncaster Rovers in 2013 and went on to win the League One title before taking up the role of Donny’s director of football in the Championship.
