The Non-League Football Paper

Celebration for the whole of our game

- By Hugo Varley

THE WARM weather snap will have minds drifting towards the summer and there’s one sure-fire way to know the summer sun is on its way – our announcement of The National Game Awards!

As ever the launch of The NGAs signals we’re at the business end of the season and with plenty to play for and this year’s set of Awards will be our best yet!

Mark the date in your calendars – Tuesday, May 14th with Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge our venue for the third year on the trot.

We are delighted to announce that Buildbase is our title sponsor this year, adding The NGAs to their current sponsorship of the FA Vase and FA Trophy. As many of our readers will know, Buildbase is one of the UK’s fastest growing builders’ merchants with over 165 branches nationwide. All of their branches are long-established companies which have been serving local trades people for many years, with knowledge and experience to match. For more details please visit www.buildbase.co.uk

We’re hugely grateful for their support and we’re working closely with Buildbase for our much-loved Unsung Hero Award.

One of the telling things about The NGAs is the regular and relentless backing it receives – without this, we simply couldn’t honour the great and good of the NonLeague game. Mark Harrod have been behind us for many a year and their team will back the Player of the Year, while Huck Nets have once again put their name to the Goal of the Season accolade.

FieldTurf return as well and they will once again present the Manager of the Year award

while we welcome the return of Brandon Hire. The Step 3/4 Player of Year is supported by the tool hiring specialists. The Acerbis Cup Run of the year is always a hotly contested award, while The PFA Fair Play prize will honour Non-League’s saints of the season. The Football Foundation have enjoyed another great year, we’re always pleased to see them return, getting behind the Community Club accolade.

Our friends at Sportsbeat sign up once again – they didn’t need asking twice to support the Young Player of the Year.

We love the William Hill Fan of the Year category and again we need your help with this one, while the SK Kits Golden Boot is based on the scoring charts. Red Insure return, the Team of the Year is never short of candidates while Reusch are back — they couldn’t miss the chance to crown the season’s quality goalkeeper. The FA are supporting the England C Player of the Year, selected by Paul Fairclough, while

The NLP Lifetime Achievement award is one of our personal favourites. Football Supporters’ Federation Away Day Experience of the year recognises the efforts clubs make to cater for travelling fans. Keep an eye on The NLP over the coming weeks as we bring you award-by-award guides as well as all the information you need to ensure the decanters end up in the right hands!
