ROMAN’S NOSE FOR GOAL IS A WINNER

- By Chris Fowle

ROMAN Michael-Percil clinched a vital victory for high-flying Merstham with a 93rdminute winner.

Percil ran through the Tanners’ rearguard before firing past keeper Zaki Qualah.

It was a disjointed encounter, with neither team capable of holding possession.

The Moatsider’s custodian Amadou Tangara was the busier of the two goalkeepers.

Fabio Saraiva had Merstham’s first real effort on 19 minutes but it was easily saved for Qualah.

Tangara then dealt with a Travis Gregory shot and Shaun Okojie’s header, both of which were directed straight at him.

The best move of the half cane on 36 minutes, Leatherhead’s Charlie Hester-Cook blazing his shot over after a good bit of play between Misha Djmali and Gregory.

Tanners centre-back Jerry Nnamani headed a Hester-Cook free kick wide on 40 minutes.

But Merstham should have led on 52 minutes, Walter Figueira shooting wide when it was easier to score.

Percil fired wide on 68 minutes and had one or two other good chances but didn’t make the most of them.

Then, with 12 minutes left, Figueira’s shot was tipped over by Qualah.

And Percil won the game with its last kick. STAR MAN: Misha Djmali (Leatherhead) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
