ASHLEY AIDS THE AMBERS

- By Thomas Ritchie

CHESHUNT produced a stunning comeback to defeat Hanwell Town 4-2 and earn a vital three points.

Hanwell started on the front foot and led 2-0 before the half-hour mark as Louis Bircham volleyed home Zaine Gangadeen’s cross and Gangadeen then curled into the bottom corner.

Cheshunt were handed a route back into the game by Hanwell goalkeeper Aaron Buftan as he fumbled Ashley Nzala’s header into the goal, before Jordan Westcott levelled the scores.

The turnaround was completed on the stroke of half-time as Jason Hallett latched on to a loose ball and slotted home to give his side the advantage at the break.

Five minutes into the second-half Nzala extended Cheshunt’s lead, before the game ended on a sour note as Al-Hafeez Sanusi was given his marching orders following an altercation with Olly Duffy.

Meanwhile Hayes & Yeading United continue to romp away with the title as they saw off Westfield 4-0. All four of the leagueleaders strikes came in the second half after the struggled to open up their playoff chasing opponents before the break.

Elliot Benyon got the opener as he made the most of a scrappy period of play to poke in.

Scott Donnelly doubled their advantage a few minutes later as he thundered home after Ashley Smith’s cross into the box.

The third was added by Scott Bridges as he slotted calmly past the keeper into the net.

Chid Onokwai completed the victory in stoppage time as his scuffed shot on his left foot beat the keeper to his left.

Marlow were comfortable as they beat

Egham Town 2-0 at the Alfred David Ground.

Adam Richards opened the scoring on nine minutes as he took his chance to give his side the lead.

The hosts were solid as they held their advantage until half-time and it paid off as Kelvin Bossman struck just before the hour.

Marlow sit third as they continue to chase Bracknell Town for second but both are still a long way behind Hayes & Yeading.

Egham remain rockbottom of the division with just ten points from their 28 games so far.

Ryan Marklew was the hero for Molesey as they grabbed just their fifth win of the season by defeating Hertford Town 1-0.

They could have led early on through a penalty but it was saved by Charlie Mann and the rebounded was headed over the bar.

But Marklew slotted in from the edge of the box with nine minutes left to play and his side held on for the win despite Hertford hitting the post with the last kick of the game.

The win means Molesey have extended the gap between them and the bottom-placed side and leaves them one point off South Park in 18th.

Hertford are one place further up the table and are on a barren run with just one point from their last eight matches. Waltham Abbey came from behind as they beat Ashford Town 2-1 at Capershotts.

Max Webb had put the visitors ahead when he headed in from a short corner where Tom Howard combined with James Cottee, who provided the assist.

Almost straight from the restart the hosts drew level as Timothy Ogunrinde took his chance against the Tangerines.

And Ellis Brown got what would prove to be the winner just before the hour mark, as his side held on take all three points.

The triumph, their first in four matches, takes Waltham up two places to seventh, going past their opponents.

Ashford have now surrendered leads in their last two matches, after Westfield also came from behind to beat them last week.
