ROBINS PECKING AWAY AT LEADERS

- By Brian Little

BRACKNELL Town maintained their position in second with a comfortable 3-1 win over Tooting and Mitcham United.

They did not have it all their own way as Tooting took an early lead through David Carty after 12 minutes.

And it stayed that way until shortly after the hour mark when Liam Ferdinand brought second in the table Bracknell level from the spot.

Minutes later they were ahead when Antonio Simeone turned the ball into his own net to put the hosts ahead.

The points were wrapped up in stoppage time when Joseph Grant netted a third.

Bracknell remain in second place but are still a massive 14 points behind top of the table Hayes.

Westfield remain in the final play-off place after a comfortable 5-2 win over Hertford Town.

George Frith gave Westfield the lead inside the first 10 minutes and the lead was doubled by Aaron Watson minutes later.

Westfield was again on target just before the half hour mark, this time from the penalty spot.

But with Westfield looking like they were cruising, they were hit by two Hertford goals in quick succession just before half time.

First James Calvin scored for Hertford on 42 minutes, before Daniel Bond made it 3-2 on the stroke of half time.

The break came at just the right time for Westfield and they came out in the second half and reaffirmed their authority on the game.

Tinashe Nkoma made it 4-2 on the hour mark before the game and points were safe when Elijah Simpson scored a fifth on 72 minutes. Waltham Abbey needed a late Rimmell Daniel goal to take all three points at home to

Bedfont Sports and remain in the play-off picture as they ground out a 2-1 win.

The home side got off to the perfect start when Nathan Koranteng fired them ahead after just five minutes.

And the score remained like that until just after the hour mark when Scott Harris levelled for Bedfont.

But Daniel made sure they took all three points from the game with a goal in the 87th minute.

The result moves Waltham Abbey above Tooting and Mitcham United into seventh in the table and eight points off the play-off places. Bedfont remain in 13th.

Meanwhile, Chris Ovenden scored the only goal of the game as

Marlow beat Ashford Town 1-0. The result keeps a 10point cushion between Marlow and Ware who are just outside the play-off places.

In the other game of the day, Hanwell Town kept their remote chances of breaking into the play-off places alive with a 1-0 win over Uxbridge.

But they left it late, with Brian Testolin netting the winner in the 85th minute.

The result leaves Hanwell in 10th place and 12 points adrift of the play-off places.

Elsewhere, Molesey’s game with Chalfont St

Peter fell victim to the weather and was postponed.
