BARCELOS AT BUSINESS END

Hosts leave it late to snatch point but keeper is their star player

DIDCOT TOWN 1 PETERBOROUGH S 1

FELIPE Barcelos rescued an unlikely point for Didcot deep into stoppage time to keep the Railwaymen on track for the play-offs. With a ridiculously strong wind causing havoc on the game it was Sports with it at their backs who dominated the first half. Lewis Hilliard should have put the visitors ahead when he latched on to a through ball but he placed his effort just beyond the far post. Leigh Bedwell in the home goal was going to have a busy afternoon and he saved well at the near post from Mark Jones header. The visitors siege continued and Dion Sembie-Ferris then decided to see what the wind could do as he took aim from 35 yards. It dipped and swerved with the wind but again Bedwell did well to tip it over the bar. Into the second half and, after a promising start from the hosts, disaster struck for Didcot when Sports won the ball in midfield. He switched play to Josh Moreman whose first time drilled cross found SembieFerris, who was able to scramble the ball home at the back post. Didcot were huffing and puffing but failing to blow the house down and in fact it was Sports who looked the more likely. Bedwell again saving well with his legs to deny Jones again. Didcot were throwing everything at it in the final moments and got their unlikely leveller deep into stoppage time. A long ball wasn't properly cleared and it fell to Barcelos, who instinctively struck it first time hard and low into the bottom corner to spark wild home celebrations as Didcot earned a point against the odds. STAR MAN: Leigh Bedwell (Didcot) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
