Enfield snatch point in thriller

- By Andrew Warshaw

ENFIELD TOWN 3 BOGNOR REGIS TOWN 3

ENFIELD and Bognor shared the spoils of a great advert for the Bostik League.

The Towners led on eight minute when Lewis Taaffe blasted home a 30-yard free-kick.

Bognor levelled six minutes later when Theo Widdrington finished off a training ground routine.

Marc Weatherstone headed Kezie Ibe's flick wide and Billy Bricknell was inches from Taaffe’s cross before being denied by Harvey Read.

Taaffe’s low effort was then tipped round by Rocks debutant keeper Petar Durin.

After the break, Durin dived low to keep out Mathew Johnson, while James Mulley and Bricknell had shots blocked in rapid succession.

Mason Walsh was then denied by home keeper Matt Nolan.

On 68 minutes, Nolan rode his luck when a shot from distance hit the bar, then his body and somehow stayed out.

But Bognor led on 74 minutes Bradley Lethbridge converted a right-wing cross.

Enfield levelled four minutes later, sub Sam Chaney bundling the ball past Durin.

Bognor led again on 82 minutes when Walsh forced the ball over the line after a corner was half-cleared.

Bricknell was denied by Keaton Ward’s goalline clearance.

And on 87 minutes, Weatherstone’s effort snuck over the line after a massive goalmouth melee. STAR MAN: Lewis Taaffe (Enfield Town) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
