McKenzie provides Angels with wings

- By Jim Rowe

TONBRIDGE ANGELS 2 CORINTHIAN-CASUALS 0

TONBRIDGE scored early and late to seal victory and move into third in the table.

The Angels largely dominated the first half but only had the one goal to show for it at the break.

It came after 10 minutes when Jared Small’s cross was converted by Chinedu McKenzie after a mistake in the Casuals defence.

On 22 minutes, McKenzie prodded Tom Beere’s excellent free kick just wide.

Casuals keeper Daniel Bracken denied Joe Turner moments later and there were further chances for the home side’s Tom Derry and Small.

In the 36th minute, McKenzie netted again but the referee had already blown for an Angels free kick on the edge of the area.

Just before half time, Tonbridge keeper Jonny Henly saved Juevan Spencer’s effort saved.

Casuals came much more into the game in the second half but were unable to unlock the Angels defence including the ever reliable Henly.

Beere and substitute Adem Ramadan had chances to double the Angels’ advantage as the game reached its final quarter.

And they finally went two-up on 85 minutes, when a free kick was handled by Majed Sean in the area, Turner dispatching the resultant penalty with ruthless efficiency. STAR MAN: Jonny Henly (Tonbridge Angels) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
