Perfect record ruined by win

CHESHAM UTD 2 TRURO CITY 1

AFTER struggling for much of the game, Chesham United staged a dramatic late comeback to end Truro City’s one hundred per cent record.

The visitors took an early lead when Chesham defender Kieran Murphy lost possession to Niall Thompson and he scored at the second attempt after Murphy blocked his initial shot.

Truro had the better of the opening half with Ryan Law shooting over the bar. Noah Keats then tested home keeper Ben Goode with an angled drive. In fact, Chesham did not produce a shot until the 43rd minute, visiting keeper James Hamon saving comfortably from Jefferson Louis.

There was little for the home crowd at the Meadow to cheer until Chesham refreshed their line-up by bringing on all three substitutions just after the hour mark.

The visitors had been content to sit on their lead and they paid for it when Mark Kirby glanced in Adam Martin’s long throw to equalise on 68 minutes, the first goal Truro have conceded this season.

The Generals continued to push forward and Adam Martin shot just wide after good work by sub Sandro Costa.

Truro did begin to push forward again and Stewart Yetton wasted a good chance by shooting straight at Ben Goode.

However, it was the home side who bagged a dramatic late winner when another long throw from Martin caused chaos in the visitors’ box and Karl Oliyide fired home from a narrow angle.
