TIVVY TANK BEACONSFIELD FOR SIX TO TOP THE TABLE
Tiverton continued their impressive form with an excellent victory over a spirited Beaconsfield Town side who only just made kick off after enduring the Bank Holiday traffic.
The Yellows got off to a good start with Chris Shephard curling a lovely shot on 14 minutes that McCorkell tipped round the post.
Another warning was sounded on 16 minutes when Jordan Bastin skewed an effort agonisingly wide after good work by Olaf Koszela.
The breakthrough arrived on 21 Minutes when Jordan Bastin’s shot was blocked before star man and left-back Noah Smerdon curled a right footed shot in to the corner of McCorkell’s net.
Tivvy’s second goal came on 27 minutes when the influential Bastin sent over a delicious corner for Jared Lewington to flick home a delightful header.
The storm continued with a now rampant Tiverton team going through the gears.
Shephard bamboozled two defenders on 33 minutes with his quick feet and then did the same to the keeper McCorkell before finishing off a fine solo goal with aplomb.
The hosts’ fourth arrived on 38 minutes, fine build-up play resulting in Jared Lewington finding space and chipping in a sumptuous ball for Olaf Koszela to head his second goal in Tiverton colours.
River Allen and Steve Colwell were pulling the strings in midfield while Tiverton’s defence looked assured with Jordan Bentley and Mike Landricombe in fine form.
The fifth goal on 41 minutes arrived via the penalty spot, a thumping spot kick from Allen after Lewington was tripped in the box.
With a weary Beaconsfield looking for half-time they scored a well worked stoppage time goal, Baley Brown heading home a great ball at the far post.
The second half was all about damage limitation for Beaconsfield who played five at the back. It worked in restricting the hosts to only one more goal, Noah Smerdon bundled home his second of the game on 56 minutes after a free-kick from Allen.
With Truro losing at Chesham, the win leaves Tiverton sitting proudly on top of the table but joint boss Scott Rogers is taking nothing for granted. “It was an excellent win but we will not be getting too carried away and will be taking one game at a time,” he insisted.
