AGUIAR YELLING FOR THE REBELS
WORTHING 2 CORINTHIAN-CAS Aguiar 39, Myles-Meekums 41 0
ADAM Hinshelwood believes there is still more to come from his Worthing side after they beat struggling Corinthian-Casuals.
The hosts struck twice in two minutes towards the end of the first half through Ricky Aguiar and Reece Myles-Meekums, and are now unbeaten in their last eight.
Hinshelwood said: “I thought it was good to get back to the sort of performances that we’ve been accustomed to.
“We’ve got a good squad of young players and we’re just trying to get some consistency now this season. I feel like we’ve got that in the last three games and hopefully it will give us a bit of belief.
“Third might be bit of a false position, but we’ve got to start being better at taking points from the teams in and around us. The performances are getting there and I still think there’s more to come from one or two.”
Worthing should have taken an early lead but Australian striker Callum Kealy’s close range shot hit goalkeeper Danny Bracken and bounced an inch wide of the post.
Five minutes later Bradley Wilson spurned a good chance for the visitors, blazing over after Nathaniel Pinney’s disguised pass played him in.
Six minutes before half-time the hosts went ahead when Myles-Meekums cut back to Aguiar who rifled into the top corner from just inside the box.
Two minutes later Robert Jamison’s misplaced header was pounced on by Myles-Meekums who rounded Bracken and slotted into an empty net for his seventh of the season.
Hinshelwood was impressed by the performance of Aguiar, adding: “He probably hasn’t quite hit the standards that he set for himself last season, but he’s just starting to get back to it now and that’s what we expect of Ricky. He was like that week in week out last year. I’m pleased that he’s knuckled down and working hard.”
