REBELS RAMP IT UP – TO THE MAX

- By David Richardson

SLOUGH Town cut Wealdstone’s lead at the top of National League South to four points with a crucial victory at Arbour Park.

The Rebels claimed their 12th win from their last 15 league games to open up the title race.

Ben Harris netted a first-half penalty before Max Worsfold wrapped things up two minutes from time, but Michee Efete pulled one back for the Stones in injury time.

“There’s a long way to go this Christmas, we’ve got a few games still to go but that’s a massive win,” said joint-boss Jon Underwood. “It was the performance we needed, you have to do whatever it takes to get the points and we did that.”

Bath City moved up to third with an entertaining 3-2 win over Chippenham Town in which the hosts trailed twice in the first half.

George Rigg and Tom Owen-Evans had put the Bluebirds in front with Ryan Brunt initially levelling things up for Bath. Adam Mann equalised shortly after half-time before Chippenham’s Rhys Tyler was shown a second yellow card, and then Joe Raynes netted the winner ten minutes from time.

Dorking Wanderers eased to their fourth consecutive league victory to move them five points off the lead by beating Eastbourne Borough 4-0, with two from Jason Prior, Jack Barham and Isaac Philpott.

A sterling second-half display from Concord Rangers, in which Aron Pollock, James Blanchfield and Joel Nouble all scored, help them hammer their Essex rivals Billericay Town 4-1.

Steve King returned to Welling United and saw his Dartford side put in the perfect away performance with a Darren McQueen double and one from Elliott Romain moving them two points off the play-offs.

Resurgent St Albans City are out of the relegation zone and unbeaten in five after beating out-of-form Hemel Hempstead thanks to Joe Iaciofano and Zane Banton’s goals. Hampton & Richmond have won seven of their last ten league games following a 2-1 victory at Dulwich Hamlet, who held a minute silence before the game in honour of super fan Mishi Morath following his passing last week. Ryan Hill and Kyron Farrell scored for the Beavers with Dylan Kearney grabbing one back for Hamlet.

Chris Whelpdale’s double plus one each from Robbie Simpson and Shaun Jeffers gave Chelmsford City a superb 4-1 win over Braintree Town, now with only one win in 11 matches.

Havant & Waterlooville against Weymouth and Tonbridge Angels v Maidstone were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
