The Non-League Football Paper

FAAL’S ON THE RISE THANKS TO TOWNERS PLATFORM

-

FAAL is relishing his move to Bolton Wanderers and believes his Non-League experience will help him make the step up to the professional game.

The 22 year-old striker has joined the League One club from Enfield Town where he netted 24 goals in 25 games this season.

“I have been waiting for this moment a long time – it’s a dream come true,” Faal said. “Non-League football is different. You learn a lot about yourself and what it takes to be that person that kicks on and progresses, it was a good experience.

“I feel ready, this is what I want and what I have worked for so taking the step up doesn’t faze me. I just want to work hard, play and hopefully score goals for the team.” After spending two years in Italy, Faal returned to England with stints at Dulwich Hamlet and Kingstonian before moving to Enfield Town in 2018.

Faal’s goals have fired the Towners to seventh in the Isthmian Premier Division but the striker believes there is more to his game than just hitting the back of the net. “First and foremost I try to work hard for the team but I do like to get on the ball and score goals,” Faal explained. “I’m ecstatic to have got the deal done and am looking forward to showing the fans what I can do.”

Faal is joined at the Macron Stadium this week by a second Non-League starlet – 18-year-old midfield ace George Thomason, who has impressed at high-flying Longridge Town in the North West Counties Premier Division.

“At Longridge Town we were flying with quite a young team,” Thomason said. “The manager at Longridge used to play with Keith Hill, so I got the opportunity to come here and train – I’m buzzing to get going.” Both Faal and Thomason have signed on 18 month contracts until the end of the 2021-22 season.
