TADDY GET STUNNED BY JACK THE LAD

- By Harry Gray

JACK ELLIOT’S first-half effort proved the difference as Tadcaster

Albion suffered a surprise Northern North West Premier Division defeat at the hands of Dunston FC.

With Albion sitting fourth in the table at kick-off and Dunston 17th, the visitors would have fancied their chances of taking all three points from the encounter.

However, they never managed to recover from a slow start and went behind with 22 minutes on the clock when Elliot cut inside from the flank and curled a strike home via the upright.

To Albion’s credit, they rallied and were close to levelling just five minutes later when Alfie Beeston arrived unchecked on the edge of the box and cannoned a smart half-volley back off the crossbar.

That was as close as the visitors would come to forcing an equaliser in a game short on gilt-edged chances for both sides.

Albion rung the changes with just over an hour on the clock and introduced debutant Damian Reeves from the bench.

He almost made the dream start to life in a Tadcaster shirt, reacting well to direct a close-range effort at goal, only to be denied by a superb stop from Dunston goalkeeper Niall Harrison – who was a firsthalf replacement for the injured Karl Dryden.

That save was in keeping with a solid defensive display which allowed Dunston to see the game out and collect a much-needed win.

Matthew Hamilton took the plaudits in Prescot

Cables’ mid-table meeting with Drolylsden as he bagged a hat-trick in a commanding 4-0 victory.

The Cables man notched his first with just ten minutes on the clock before taking the game by the scruff of the neck after the interval.

He added his second just past the hour and made the match ball his own with 20 minutes left to play.

There was still time for Prescot to add extra gloss to the result and Llyod Dean scored their fourth to seal a dominant victory.

Mossley produced a late comeback to stun Clitheroe as they scored twice in the final 20 minutes to seal a 2-1 victory.

Clitheroe took the lead on the cusp of half-time when Craig Stanley lost his marker and headed home from close range.

Mossley started the second half with renewed impetus and got the goal their attacking endeavour deserved when Mark Lees found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The goal only served give Mossley more confidence and they completed the turnaround seven minutes from time when Jes Uchegbulam calmly lifted a one-on-one over the keeper.

Pickering

Town won by the odd goal in five as they survived a late fightback to down

Ossett United 3-2. Town looked to be well on their way to a routine win when Flynn McNaughton’s strike and an Iwan Heeley penalty gave them a 2-0 lead after 32 minutes.

Aaron Haswell reduced the arrears shortly after half-time before McNaughton added his second.

Tom Greeves then scored from the spot with 15 minutes to play, but Pickering held firm to ensure the strike was little more than a consolation.

A solitary Curtis Round effort was the difference as

Marske United recorded a 1-0 victory over Pontefract Collieries.

Round struck with 28 minutes on the clock after being picked out by a smart through ball and Collieries were unable to muster a response to the first-half setback.
