NERVOUS NEWTON SEAL TOP SIX SPOT

- By Carl Field

NEWTOWN clinched a top six finish ahead of the split in the JD Cymru Premier last night with a goalless draw against Airbus UK

Broughton at Latham Park. A point was all the Robins needed and they secured it, albeit after some nervous late moments. That result also means Cardiff

Met and Cefn Druids will be battling it out in the Play Off Conference.

Met beat Caernarfon Town

2-0 at Cyncoed thanks to goals in each half from Jordan Lam and Eliot Evans.

Two late goals from Jamie Reed gave the Druids a 2-1 triumph over Bala Town, their first league win at Maes Tegid.

Louis Robles had given Bala the lead just after the break.

The New Saints, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Bala, Barry Town United and Caernarfon were already assured of a top six finish.

Champions TNS have a fourpoint lead after coming from behind to beat Connah’s Quay

2-1 in the battle of the top two at Park Hall.

Mike Wilde headed the Nomads in front against his former club on 15 minutes, but the sides were level on 26 minutes when Callum Morris turned Jamie Mullan’s cross from the right into his own net.

The decisive moment arrived on 69 minutes with Adrian Cieslewicz’s cross finding Simon Spender at the back post and his shot took a deflection as it bounced in.

The Nomads are still winless on Saints’ territory since October 1995.

Barry whacked Carmarthen

Town 7-1. Kayne McLaggon, twice, Mo Touray, Luke Cooper, Jack Compton, Clayton Green and Evan Press grabbed the goals.

Callum Saunders replied for the Old Gold.

Billy Borge’s fourth-minute own goal gave Aberystwyth

Town a 1-0 win over Penybont. Swansea University remain a point clear at the top of JD Cymru South after a 2-0 win at Undy

Athletic.

Nathan Townsend and Arion Sobers-Assue grabbed the goals.

Haverfordwest County, with a game in hand, remain right on their coattails after they came from behind to win 4-1 at home

against Cambrian & Clydach.

Jack Britton, Marcus Griffiths, Tim Hicks and Jack Wilson secured the points after Liam Reed gave the visitors an early lead.

Prestatyn Town went nap at Buckley Town to move 12 points clear in JD Cymru North.

Jordan Davies’ first-minute goal gave Prestatyn the perfect start and they were two-up at the break through Dan Roberts’ header.

Jack Kenny put the result beyond doubt with a third goal on 76 minutes and Ian Griffiths’ stoppage-time double completed the scoring.

It was Prestatyn’s 19th victory in 22 league matches and moved them further clear of Flint Town

United, who were not in action.
