Beadle’s about – but Bulls gamble

-

THESE last few weeks we’ve all heard about Manchester United and Arsenal losing their way following the departure of long-serving managers, generally much loved by the fans. Well, how about adding Hereford FC to that list?

Since Peter Beadle was remarkably given his marching orders after a poor start to the 2018-19 campaign, things have gone from bad to worse for the Bulls.

This week, the club parted company with the experienced Russell Slade who, despite inconsistent showings on the field, did enough to suggest he could be a short-to-medium term success at Edgar Street, given half a chance.

His axing, after just five months, was less of surprise than Beadle’s but it was the installation of Josh Gowling as caretaker boss until the end of the season which has really lit up warning signs to the long-suffering Hereford faithful.

Let’s put it into perspective, the club are currently embroiled in a relegation scrap at the foot of National League North but have placed their faith on a rookie with no knowhow to pull us out of it – even if he does have experience behind him in Steve Burr!

The answer is staring the Hereford board fully in the face. The very same Peter Beadle who revealed to The NLP just a few weeks ago that he applied unsuccessfully for his old manager’s job before Slade, is still available and is desperate to return to the club he loves – even it is just until the end of the season.

Stability is what the club needs right now, not to be taking another gamble at such a crucial stage.
