CONDON DOUBLE THE KEY AS ASHFORD CLAIM THE POINTS

- By James Crump

AARON Condon scored twice as Ashford United emphatically defeated East Grinstead

Town in a 5-0 rout.

Jay May opened proceedings in the fifth minute, but Ashford had to wait until the 35th minute to score again when Condon converted to double the lead.

Ten minutes into the second half David Smith sealed the win with a third, before Condon got his second in the 71st minute, making it four with 20 minutes still to be played.

The only blemish for Ashford was a needless red card for Mohammed Kamara following two but was quickly forgotten when Adrian Stone scored Ashford’s fifth.

The result for Ashford keeps pressure on top-of-the table Hastings, whilst East Grinstead stay dead last on six points.

Will Fazakerley marked his return from a three-month layoff by sealing a third straight win for Guernsey, against Sittingbourne, which was their first at home since November.

Fazakerley turned and lashed high into the net ten minutes after coming on to give his side a two-goal cushion.

Robbie Legg had given them an early lead from the spot after Matt Loaring was tripped, but Johann Caney-Bryan quickly cancelled it out.

A fortunate bounce allowed Loaring to restore the lead in the 25th minute, leading to a comfortable 3-1 win. Hastings United held on to their six point lead at the top of the table with a narrow 3-2 victory over VCD Athletic.

Craig Stone opened the scoryellows, ing for Hastings in the 22nd minute, with Pope converting from the spot four minutes later after Lanre Azeez was tripped in the box to make it two.

Bodi Anidugbe got one back for VCD four minutes into the second half, before Aymun El-Mogharbel headed home an equaliser in the 64th minute.

With six minutes to go, Pope got his second of the game to win the game for Hastings with a well-placed header.

An entertaining derby between Kent coast rivals, Hythe

Town and Herne Bay, ended all square thanks to a late goal
