ASHFORD EARN A CRUCIAL VICTORY

- By James Crump

ASHFORD Town lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with a

3-0 victory over South

Park, thanks to goals from Hafid Bounyafe, Sam Humphreys and Robert Mundow.

Bounyafe opened the scoring in the 17th minute when his deflected shot looped into the far corner and Humphreys doubled their lead ten minutes into the second half with a smart finish.

Mundow finished the game off with 15 minutes to go, tapping in after confusion between the keeper and the defence.

The result was much needed for Ashford, who

following Northwood’s 4-1 defeat against Chertsey

Town are equal with them on 13 points but crucially up to 19th thanks to goal difference.

Chipstead ground out a 1-0 win against Bedfont

Sports to stretch their unbeaten run to 11 games.

Sam Clayton’s penalty on 76 minutes divided the two teams after sub Tobi Adaje had been brought down in the box.

Bedfont nearly equalised when their skipper Joe Jackson thumped an early free-kick against the crossbar and in the follow-up, Darryl Sanders struck a post.

Despite late pressure, Chipstead held on for the three points, keeping them tenth.

Managerless Northwood slipped to the bottom of the table as they suffered an eighth straight league defeat at home to play-off chasing Chertsey Town.

The Curfews were two goals to the good at the half time break through goals from Jonathan Hippolyte and a top corner finish from Lewis Jackson.

Woods got themselves back in the game with an Eric Lopes strike on 53 minutes but Chertsey went straight down the other end to restore the two goal cushion through Jake Baxter.

Scott Day finished it off in the 78th minute to complete another fruitless afternoon for Northwood.

Marlow shocked third-placed Westfield with a 3-0 win with goals from Curtis Ujah, Jordan Brown and Adam Richards.

The home side made a quick start and were ahead after five minutes before doubling their lead 30 minutes later when Brown converted a penalty.

Marlow’s Devontae Romeo was sent off at the end of the first half giving Westfield hope, but the 10 men continued to dominate and got their third through Richards in the 65th minute.

In a scrappy derby, Harlow Town comfortably defeated Hertford Town with goals from Tayo Oyebola and Christian Adu Gyamfi.

Oyebola got the first in the 30th minute when he was allowed a free header, before Gyamfi sealed all three points in the 85th minute after over indulgence by the Hertford backline.

Danny Bassett shone

as Tooting & Mitcham United thrashed

Waltham Abbey 3-0 in a crucial clash in the race for promotion.

Bassett scored twice in the first ten minutes of the second half, following Sol Patterson-Bohner’s opener in the 43rd.

The result means Tooting and Mitcham move ahead of Waltham Abbey in 4th, whilst the visitors move down to 6th.

Barking fell to a 1-0 defeat to league strugglers

FC Romania thanks to a second minute goal from German Petrov.

He converted after a succession of early corners and although Barking threatened to grab an equaliser they couldn’t find one, handing 17th placed FC Romania a valuable three points. Bracknell Town beat Chalfont St Peter 1-0.
