PRICE NOT RIGHT FOR MANGOS MANAGER

- MANGOTSFIELD By Toby Smith

suffered a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Evesham United just hours after Ollie Price announced he will step down as manager.

Price, who has been at Mangotsfield for two years, released a statement before the clash saying the match would be his last after his position had become untenable.

The news looked to have affected his players as a Lee Chilton header and Jamie Lucas tap in gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break.

Mangotsfield reduced the arrears shortly after the break, only for Paul Sullivan to crash home a volley and restore the twogoal lead.

The hosts were in no mood to lie down though and two goals in the space of eight minutes saw them level the scores at 3-3 with 20 to play.

There would be no parting win for Price, however, and goals from Calvin Dinsley and Matt Dodd settled matters.

Elsewhere, a Ryan Turner hat-trick saw Bideford stun play-off chasing Slimbridge as they eased to a commanding 4-1 win.

Archie Reay headed the home side into an eighth-minute lead and Turner made the most of a quick free-kick to make it 2-0.

An Aaron Nasbeth effort got Slimbridge back in the game on 65 minutes, but Turner scored twice in the last 20 minutes to seal it.

On a day when goals were in high supply across the league, Moneyfields hammered relegation rivals Barnstaple Town 5-2 to move seven points clear of the drop zone.

Steve Hutch got the ball rolling inside a minute with a penalty before a Joe Briggs double all but settled matters by half-time.

It would be left to Hutch to add the gloss in the second period as he completed his hat-trick ahead of some sloppy Moneyfields defending allowing Stuart Bowker and Vincent

Wright-Harper Innis to score.

Highworth Town

and Basingstoke Town shared six goals as the former secured a 4-2 victory against the side sat bottom of the league.

An entertaining game saw Highworth go ahead through Matty Grabe’s ninth minute header, only for George Hallahan to score twice early in the second half to turn the match in Basingstoke’s favour.

The lead would last until the 71st minute when Cal Parsons’ header broke Basingstoke’s resilience and set Highworth on their way to victory.

Three minutes later, a dangerous cross found Ashley Edenborough and he looped a header over the despairing keeper to make it 3-2.

Highworth eventually made the points safe when James Harrison calmly converted in stoppage-time to seal a hardfought three points.

The defeat will be particularly painful for Basingstoke as victory would have seen them move clear of Barnstaple and off the foot of the table.

While many sides around them in the league were scoring goals for fun, Willand Rovers and

Larkhall Athletic played out a cagey affair as Rovers claimed a battling 1-0 win.

After an attritional first period, Rovers pushed hard for a winner after the break and got their reward in the 67th minute.

The decisive goal was by no means a classic as a corner resulted in a scramble from which Dean Stamp eventually forced home a header.

With Larkhall sitting third in the table, Rovers will take great encouragement from a win which took them to within two points of tenth.
