ADAM LEADS A SURVIVAL MISSION

- By Jon Couch

ADAM FLANAGAN has returned for a second spell as manager of Brentwood Town in a bid to save the Essex club from relegation. He was named as successor to Ryan O’Rawe, who quit the relegation-threatened BetVictor Isthmian North club on Monday. Replacing George Borg in December 2015, Flanagan, the former Dartford ace, led the Blues to promotion to the Premier Division before switching to Concord Rangers where he took over from Danny Cowley.

Most recently, he had been joint-manager of former club Dartford in National League South side, alongside Jamie Coyle, before the pair resigned after 14 months in September having just missed out on a play-off place at the end of the previous season.

Flanagan said: “I am pleased to be back at Brentwood where my managerial career started.

“I owe the club and the players I had a lot as it was a great time and helped propel me forward onto having four seasons in the National League South.

“I met with Jez earlier this week and he detailed his plans for the club going forward which are impressive and something I wanted to be a part of.

“I hope I can replicate the success I had before and fulfil the ambition that Jez and the club have.”

O’Rawe was appointed Brentwood boss May 2019 as successor to Craig Shipman, but the former Aveley, Billericay Town, Canvey Island, Heybridge Swifts and Maldon & Tiptree defender had led the club to just five wins all season.

A club statement read: “Brentwood Town FC are delighted to announce Adam Flanagan as their new manager. Adam comes with a proven track record of success.”
