D’SEAN AIMS TO BECOME A POLE STAR

- By Jon Couch

STEVE MCKIMM saw prodigy D’Sean Theobalds land a dream move to the Polish Premier League and described him as “every manager’s dream”.

The Tonbridge Angels midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Ekstraklasa club Korona Kielce following a successful trial at the team’s summer training camp in Turkey.

Since joining the Angels in December 2018, Theobalds, the former Leatherhead and Concord Rangers playmaker, played a significant role in the leading the Angels to promotion to National League South via the Super Play-Offs, where his equalising goal helped secure a final victory over Met Police.

In all, he made 52 appearances for Angels scoring eight goals and become a huge hit with the Longmead Stadium faithful. No wonder McKimm had nothing but praise for the 25-year-old.

“‘D’ was absolutely ter rific for me, a manager’s dream,” the Angels boss said. “He arrived at Longmead when things were at something of a low ebb particularly for me personally and became a genuine leader on the pitch through his performances putting new life into our promotion project.

“He made no secret of the fact that he felt he could at some stage play full-time football and I’m delighted that he has now been given his chance with Korona Kielce.

“He goes with all our thanks and very best wishes for the future.”

Theobalds joins a long list of success stories under McKimm having been plucked from lower down the pyramid.

Kielce is a city in central southern Poland with a population of around 195,000. They currently sit 14th in the Polish top-flight after returning to action following a mid-winter break.
