- By Jacob Newbury

MALDON & TIPTREE thrashed Hullbridge

Sports 5-0 to return to the top of the Isthmian League North division.

It was a flawless performance from the hosts, registering a 17th win from 19 league games this season.

Danny Parish got things going for the Essex side in the 19th minute before Charlee Hughes doubled Tiptree’s lead on the halfhour mark.

Ryan Charles’ effort gave the Jammers a well-deserved 3-0 lead at half-time, before second-half goals from Jake Cass and Conor Hubble provided Wayne Brown’s side a convincing victory at the Wallace Binder Ground.

Fine strikes from Luke Knight and Tom Wood gave Cambridge City a 2-0 victory over AFC

Sudbury, ending a run of three successive league defeats.

The hosts converted their early pressure into a lead after Knight’s long-range effort beat Sudbury keeper Paul Walker.

The visitors came out in the second half looking to pull level and Tom Maycock was unlucky when he was denied a goal by Danny Boness.

However, it was City’s Tom Wood who got the decisive goal to guarantee his side all three points when his long-range effort was enough to beat Walker and settle matters in the closing stages.

Nnamdi Nwachuku slotted home with half an hour remaining to give Coggeshall Town a 1-0 success over Grays

Athletic.

With 115 in attendance at West Street, Nwachuku’s second-half strike was all that could separate the sides.

Despite a scrappy finale, Coggeshall’s defence stood firm to hold on for the victory.

A wonder goal from Adam Morgan helped

Romford come from behind to earn a vital three points, beating Felixstowe

& Walton United 3-1 in a crucial clash between the league’s two bottom-placed outfits.

The visitors had taken the lead when Oliver Canfer converted from just inside the penalty area, after Romford were guilty of losing possession in midfield.

However, Louie Theophanous’ calm finish brought Romford level before Morgan produced a stunning second, lobbing Walton’s goalkeeper from the halfway line after initially winning the ball in midfield.

And it was Morgan again who sealed all three points for the hosts, after he took a pass from Mekhi McLeod, cut in from the right and scored with a low drive.

The win puts Romford six points

behind Felixstowe

and with six games in hand.

Soham Town Rangers moved up into 11th place after Sam Mulready’s 81st-minute winner gave the side a 2-1 win over Brentwood

Town.

Charlie Johnson’s first-half strike had put the hosts into the lead before Andrew Freeman equalised for Brentwood with quarter of an hour left to play.

However, Mulready’s late goal regained Rangers’ lead as they remain in play-off chase.

Eljay Worrell’s last-minute winner ensured

Tilbury stayed within the play-off places after his strike gave the side a 1-0 success over Dereham

Town. Witham Town recorded back-to-back victories for the first time this season, after beating Basildon

United 1-0 courtesy of a late Oliver Bell winner.

The home win helped claw Witham up to 13th in the table, as they took the chance to capitalise on defeats of Hullbridge and Sudbury.
